BRAINSPOTTING
Brainspotting for Trauma, Recovery & Nervous System Support
Sometimes you understand what happened, but your nervous system still responds as though the experience is happening now. Brainspotting offers a focused, brain-body approach for exploring what may be held beneath the surface—gently, without requiring you to have all the right words.
Sessions are available in person in Citrus Heights, California, and online.
UNDERSTANDING BRAINSPOTTING
What Is Brainspotting?
Brainspotting is a focused, brain-body approach that uses your field of vision to help identify where emotional or physical activation may be held.
During a session, we notice which eye position feels connected to the experience you want to explore. With steady attention, attuned support, and space to follow your nervous system’s natural pace, thoughts, emotions, memories, and body sensations may begin to process without requiring you to explain every detail.
Brainspotting may also be used to explore strengths, resilience, creativity, and performance—not only difficult experiences.
FOCUSED
Uses a relevant point in your visual field to support deeper attention.
BODY-AWARE
Makes room for sensations, emotions, memories, and nervous-system responses.
CLIENT-LED
You remain in control, and the process unfolds at your own pace.
AREAS OF SUPPORT
What Can Brainspotting Support?
People come to Brainspotting with many different experiences and goals. Sessions are individualized and may offer support while exploring:
TRAUMA & DIFFICULT EXPERIENCES
Processing experiences that continue to affect emotions, relationships, or the body.
RECOVERY & RECURRING PATTERNS
Exploring triggers, emotional responses, and patterns connected to recovery.
ANXIETY, PANIC & OVERWHELM
Creating space to notice and work with intense nervous-system responses.
GRIEF & LIFE TRANSITIONS
Receiving grounded support through loss, uncertainty, and meaningful change.
CHRONIC PAIN & BODY-BASED STRESS
Exploring the relationship between physical sensations, stress, and emotional experiences.
PERFORMANCE, CREATIVITY & CONFIDENCE
Working with internal blocks while strengthening focus, resilience, and personal resources.
Brainspotting is not a one-size-fits-all process. We begin with your goals, comfort level, and what feels appropriate for you.
YOUR SESSION
What to Expect in a Brainspotting Session
You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what to say or where to begin. Each session is shaped around your goals, comfort level, and nervous system.
BIOLATERAL SOUND
Biolateral sound may be offered when appropriate and can always be adjusted or declined.
We start by discussing what you would like support with, what you are noticing, and what would help you feel grounded during the session.
1 — BEGIN WITH A CONVERSATION
Using a pointer or your natural gaze, we slowly explore your visual field and notice where an eye position feels connected to the experience, sensation, or resource you want to work with.
2 — IDENTIFY A FOCUSED EYE POSITION
You are invited to observe thoughts, emotions, memories, or body sensations without forcing the process. You may talk as much or as little as feels comfortable.
3 — FOLLOW WHAT EMERGES
We allow time to settle, notice what has shifted, and gently transition out of the focused process before the session ends.
4 — CLOSE & REORIENT
